High Fliers was founded by three teachers to offer children a fun learning experience during their school holidays. Their details are given below.
Mrs Mebru Cangert- Head of English
Mebru graduated from Westminster University with a Politics Degree. Throughout her training and professional career she embarked on many roles working with children. Many of these roles were within the play and creative environment ranging from activity leader to teaching English as a foreign language. Mebru is currently working as the Head of English at a private school in London, in which she helps children make real progress, grow in confidence and develop self-esteem. She is passionate about education and has always enjoyed teaching children of different ages. She’s an expert at keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable with lots of creative story writing and drama! Mebru enjoys building and developing relationships, not only with the children, but also with their parents.
Mrs Jenny Gordon – Deputy Headteacher & Special Educational Needs Coordinator
Jenny roles involve teaching and motivating children with English as an additional language and those with special educational needs. She has always had a passion to work with children and has graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in Sociology. This was shortly followed by a PGCE and Masters in Educational Leadership. Jenny is able to inspire, motivate and challenge a child, making a real difference to children’s lives. She loves the variety that each day can bring at High Fliers and how it provides every child with an exciting learning environment. She especially loves the praise culture of High Fliers and feels there is nothing better than seeing a child ‘glow’ when they complete a challenge or learn a new skill.
Mrs Tejal Patel- Head of Maths & Head of Science
Tejal graduated from the Kings College London with a Masters in Physics degree. Her enthusiasm for working with children began when she volunteered as a Teaching Assistant, to gain a greater insight into the educational world after which she completed her PGCE. Tejal is passionate about encouraging children to realise their full potential and increase their confidence, not only in education but in everyday life. Tejal is currently Head of Science and Head of Maths in a private school in Hendon. This involves lots of explosive experiments and mathematical problem solving!
